I’d keep The Beekman in mind for a stay in New York City.

More about this place

The Beekman is a historic luxury hotel built around an extraordinary Victorian atrium in lower Manhattan. Looking up through its ironwork balconies is part of the experience, and the richly furnished Bar Room gives the building an inviting evening life beyond the guest floors.

Rooms mix antique-inspired furniture, warm colors, and modern bathrooms, while larger suites provide separate sitting areas. The turret penthouses and their terraces are special categories rather than shared rooftop facilities. Choose them specifically if private outdoor space or the dramatic attic setting is the reason for your stay.

Temple Court and Le Gratin offer two distinct dining experiences, with the Bar Room and Laissez Faire adding cocktails and late-night atmosphere. Reserve meals and lounge plans separately, especially for weekends. A fitness center covers everyday workouts, while the Brooklyn Bridge approach, World Trade Center area, and Seaport are within walking reach. Arrive at the hotel’s Nassau Street entrance; the historic Beekman Street identity can otherwise make the address confusing.

  1. Take a quiet moment on an upper atrium balcony to look at the restored ironwork. The details are easier to appreciate from there than while navigating the busy ground-floor bar.
