Sheep Meadow Picnic

Sheep Meadow Picnic is an hour on Central Park’s broad south-end lawn, with open sky, a skyline backdrop and space for a simple picnic or reading break.

Head to Sheep Meadow between West 66th and 69th Streets, bring your own food and settle on an open part of the lawn. This is a focused rest stop rather than a park tour, bike ride or reserved picnic service. Food and equipment are not included.

The lawn opens only when conditions permit and closes in winter and for some maintenance or events. Follow posted closures rather than moving onto a protected lawn. In cold or wet weather, choose a different Activity.
