I’d put Little Island on the list for a garden visit.
More about this place
Little Island is a sculpted public park raised above the Hudson on concrete tulip columns, with winding paths, layered gardens, lawns, and small overlooks. Climb gradually toward the southwest corner for the strongest river and downtown views, then loop through the planting beds and performance spaces.
The park is free and opens daily at 6 a.m.; seasonal closing times change, and only performances in The Amph require tickets. Summer brings food kiosks and programming, while lawns rotate for maintenance and may close after rain or extreme heat.
Visit early for quiet garden detail or arrive before sunset for the best light. The entire park is ADA compliant, but pets other than working service dogs are not permitted.
