Around Cortina

Use Cortina for the eastern mountain days: choose Tre Cime, Sorapis or the Falzarego area as the main outing. Braies is a separate northern excursion, rather than a walk from town.

Before you set off

Three ways to spend a mountain day

  1. Tre Cime needs an approach plan

Choose the walk and regulated road or shuttle access together. A full walk plus Braies plus a base transfer makes a very different day from one main outing. [1]

  2. Sorapis needs the right experience

The official trail has exposed, equipped sections. Choose it for suitable conditions and your comfort with that terrain; Braies is a different lake experience. [5]

  3. Falzarego and Giau are another focus

Lagazuoi’s lift visit and Passo Giau’s viewpoint can shape a western Cortina day. Check the last lift, weather and return rather than adding them after a full Sorapis walk.

  4. Keep one main outing

Choose the day’s focus, then add meals, access, the return and your next overnight. Compare the complete route before adding another valley.

Questions before you go

Can I combine Braies and a full Sorapis walk in one day?

Give the 5–7-hour curated Sorapis outing its own day. Braies is a separate excursion with its own approach; choose it for another day rather than treating both lakes as quick stops. [5][2]

What can I choose without a long mountain walk?

Consider the Lagazuoi cable-car terrace or a Passo Giau viewpoint visit. Check the lift or road and the return before setting out; a longer trail is a separate choice.
