DOLOMITES · FYNO TRAVEL GUIDES

The Dolomites without a car

Choose a compact base-led trip, then verify every connection for your travel date. Ortisei can work as a starting point for lift outings; the six- and nine-day driving loops are not validated public-transport itineraries.

Plan the connections

Before you set off

Choose the base, then check each connection

  1. Start with a base you can reach

Val Gardena’s official page lists lines 350 via Ponte Gardena/Bolzano and 360 via Ponte Gardena/Bressanone. Use Südtirolmobil to check your date, stop, changes and live disruptions before booking. [11][12]

  2. Check the timetable for your travel date

Dolomiti Bus’s 2026 seasonal list includes line 51 between Cortina, Passo Tre Croci and Misurina. That listing does not establish a 2027 departure, an October service or a connection to every Tre Cime approach. [13]

  3. Solve luggage before changing valleys

Ask the hotel about storage, check-in and the walk from the actual stop. Check baggage rules with each operator and arrange a feasible return or taxi alternative; storage and a ride are not guaranteed by a guest pass.

  4. Plan the last return first

For each outing write down the valid service dates, weekday rule, boarding stop, final usable return and a backup. Check the walk plus lift descent against that bus; do not build a day around the last possible connection.

  5. Use a smaller trip

Keep several nights in one valley and choose outings that work with its current lifts and buses. A transfer from Val Gardena to Cortina is a travel leg of its own, not a frictionless substitute for a road-trip day.

Questions before you go

Can I use the saved Fyno road trips without a car?

The saved six- and nine-day routes are driving plans. Use them to choose places, then build a separate base-led plan only after checking date-specific transport, luggage and returns.

Which bus services should I check first?

For Val Gardena, start with the official lines 350 and 360 and the Südtirolmobil journey planner. For Cortina, use the operator’s current timetable; its summer 2026 line list is dated evidence, not a future schedule. [11][12][13]
