La Fortuna itinerary: two full days without rushing
Use two full days around La Fortuna for a volcano or forest outing, the waterfall and a shorter wildlife walk. Keep the Tenorio and Bagaces extensions separate.
An arrival day is not a full sightseeing day. Check into the actual La Fortuna-area stay, confirm the next morning’s booking and keep a short town or wildlife walk optional.
02
First full day: volcano plus one shorter choice
Choose Arenal 1968 as the main walk, then either a lake viewpoint or a shorter wildlife outing according to energy and weather. Its admission is separate from the national park.
03
Second full day: choose bridges or the waterfall first
Make Mistico or the waterfall the priority and allow for its approach, walking and return. Add the other only if your booked times and effort leave room; do not make every activity compulsory.
04
Río Celeste: extend instead of squeezing
Tenorio’s full walk is about three hours before the journey. Give it a separate day or move to a Bijagua-area stay; Río Perdido is farther toward Bagaces. Neither is another central La Fortuna stop. [5]

01 · Arenal 1968, west of La Fortuna
Choose the Arenal 1968 private trail for lava-field scenery and volcano views when visibility allows. Its admission is separate from Arenal Volcano National Park; this is not a summit climb.
Plan for the steps down to the waterfall and the climb back up. Check the operator’s conditions before entering the water; a short curated visit allowance does not include the journey or a relaxed swim.
A forest walk near La Fortuna for a slower wildlife-focused morning. Decide whether you want a guide and leave time to observe quietly; a sloth sighting is not guaranteed.
Choose a hanging-bridge circuit for a different view of the forest canopy. Confirm the actual route, guide and mobility requirements; a bridge circuit is not a zipline ticket.

Questions before you go
Is this a new saved itinerary?+
No. This is an editorial base plan using existing curated places. It does not change or create a saved Fyno route; the linked Highlights itinerary retains its own actual day order.
Can I add Río Celeste to the same two days?+
Treat it as a separate Tenorio outing with its own journey, park visit and weather allowance. Add time or remove another main experience rather than compressing the two-day plan.
