Where to stay in Arenal & the northern plains

Choose La Fortuna for the waterfall, Bogarín and volcano outings. Río Celeste, the western lakeshore and Río Perdido are separate bases within this broad collection.

Make the time count

The practical plan

  1. Choose the actual base

Choose La Fortuna or the dam corridor for the waterfall and hanging bridges. Río Celeste Hideaway is a Tenorio base; Río Perdido is in Bagaces; Tronadora is on the western lakeshore. Those moves change your route.

  2. Arrival matters

Drive around Lake Arenal to reach Monteverde; a lake transfer is a separate passenger service, not a ferry for your rental car. Confirm the final lodge approach.

  3. Selected overnight or alternative?

The individual stay pages identify the exact saved default nights. A property directory includes alternatives and does not establish room availability.

8 stays
  1. 01 · Arenal volcano foothills, El Castillo side

A forest-and-volcano base south of the main La Fortuna hotel corridor. Choose it when the setting matters more than being in town.

  2. 02 · Tronadora, western Lake Arenal

A lakeshore camping selection on the west side of Arenal, rather than a La Fortuna hotel alternative.

  3. 03 · Lake Arenal, west of the dam

A camping selection near the lake viewpoint corridor. Match the exact entrance to the saved pin before planning an overnight.

  4. 04 · La Palma, north of La Fortuna

A garden-resort base in the La Fortuna area. It is outside the national park; do not read the source description as a park-boundary claim.

  5. 05 · Río Celeste / Tenorio approach near Bijagua

A Tenorio-focused stay for a Río Celeste outing, separated from the La Fortuna activity cluster.

  6. 06 · San Bernardo de Bagaces, Guanacaste

A thermal-river stay in the Bagaces area. The Highlights plan selects it after Day 5; it is not a La Fortuna overnight.

  7. 07 · Lake Arenal dam / Mistico corridor

An Arenal rainforest lodge near the Mistico corridor, rather than the Talamanca Mountains stated in the older source description.

  8. 08 · La Fortuna waterfall approach

A forest setting near the La Fortuna waterfall corridor, selected after Day 4 of Highlights.

Curated stays are planning choices, subject to availability. Use current road and site guidance for access; pins are not a driving route.

Questions before you go

Are these hotels available for my dates?

This is a curated selection, not live inventory. Confirm the property identity, guest policy, room, occupancy, final total and cancellation terms using its booking options.

Can I use every stay as the same base?

Choose La Fortuna or the dam corridor for the waterfall and hanging bridges. Río Celeste Hideaway is a Tenorio base; Río Perdido is in Bagaces; Tronadora is on the western lakeshore. Those moves change your route.
