I’d go to Fontana di Trevi for a bit of local history.
More about this place
Fontana di Trevi is Rome’s monumental Baroque fountain, where sculpted figures and cascading water fill the façade of Palazzo Poli. The traditional coin toss and the illuminated marble make it a memorable pause in the historic center.
Allow about twenty minutes for the free view from the surrounding piazza. Closer access to the inner basin is a separate choice: since February 2026, non-resident adults pay €2. The controlled area normally opens at 09:00, or 11:30 on Mondays and Fridays, with last entry at 21:00 and closing at 22:00. Maintenance can change these hours, so check the official notice before planning a close-up visit.
The basin entrance is on Via della Stamperia and the exit is on Via dei Crociferi. Expect steps, crowds and extra queue time; there is no cloakroom or toilet. Stay out of the water and keep bags close. Dogs need a carrier or a leash with a muzzle in the controlled area.

Original curator notes · check current details.
Buy basin admission online to use the ticket-holder line; an open-dated ticket still does not eliminate entry queues.
