I’d consider Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden Campground if you want a camping stay.

More about this place

Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden Campground is a weekend tent-camping option in a lush garden beneath the Koʻolau Mountains in Kāneʻohe. Shaded lawns and tropical plant collections offer a different Oʻahu overnight setting from the island’s beach parks.

Choose a permitted site in Kahua Kuou, Kahua Lehua or Kahua Nui-Makai; the map pin marks the Nui-Makai camping area. Bring your ground tent and equipment, use the shared restrooms and park in the designated stalls. Camping in or on vehicles, driving onto campsites, hookups and generators are not permitted.

Reservations open on Fridays two weeks ahead, and permits cover the full Friday-to-Monday camping window even for a shorter stay. Print the permit and check the garden’s specific gate-opening times before planning evening outings. The lake is for enjoying the scenery; swimming and boating are prohibited.
