I’d go to Hanauma Bay Snorkeling for some time by the beach.

More about this place

Hanauma Bay Snorkeling is a protected-reef morning where even cautious swimmers can see reef fish close to shore inside a dramatic volcanic cove.

All visitors watch a conservation briefing before descending to the beach. Conditions vary by tide and swell, and the outer reef is for confident swimmers only; the inner lagoon is the gentler choice.

Allow two to four hours for the briefing, access to the beach, changing and time by or in the water. Keep to your reserved visit and choose water time according to your ability and the day’s conditions.

Original curator notes · check current details.

  1. The preserve closes on Mondays and Tuesdays, and nonresident reservations release online two days ahead.

  2. Arrive early, bring reef-safe sun protection, and never stand on coral.
