Nine choices · Choose the access, then the view
Best beaches in Sardinia
Choose a beach on the coast where you are staying. La Pelosa needs seasonal reservation planning, Cala Luna needs a boat or a demanding walk, and Tuerredda is in the southwest. The right beach is the one whose access, weather and return journey fit your day.

| Beach & coast | Access decision | Plan before you leave |
|---|---|---|
| La Pelosa · northwest, Stintino | Road approach; seasonal controlled entry. | Official reservation, parking and current conservation rules. |
| Li Cossi · north, Costa Paradiso | Coastal path from the parking area. | Footwear, the walk back and sea conditions; not an Alghero town beach. |
| Liscia Ruja · northeast, Costa Smeralda | Road approach including an unpaved access road. | Rental-car terms, parking and the specific service you want. |
| Spiaggia del Principe · northeast | A cove outing from a Gallura base. | Parking and final pedestrian approach; leave time to return. |
| Cala Luna · Gulf of Orosei | Boat service or a difficult hiking approach. | Named departure harbour, weather, last return and any one-way walk/boat arrangement. |
| Cala Goloritzé · Baunei coast | A substantial hiking day with controlled access. | Current authorized reservation and trail conditions; do not assume a boat can land. |
| Tuerredda · southwest, Teulada | Road approach; municipality links official booking. | Seasonal access calendar and parking, checked separately. |
| Cala Domestica · southwest, Buggerru | Road approach and a boardwalk to the cove. | Sea conditions, current parking and seasonal services. |
| Piscinas · west, Costa Verde near Arbus | A remote coastal drive and dune landscape. | Road condition, car terms, fuel and water; the sea can be exposed. |
These are selected beaches, not a complete inventory. A reservation or paid parking does not guarantee calm water, lifeguards or a place at a beach establishment.

La Pelosa and Li Cossi are different northern days
La Pelosa lies at Stintino, northwest of Alghero. Its shallow-looking water and famous photograph do not remove the need to organize access. The official 2026 scheme ran from May 15 to October 15 at €3.50 per person per day, with 500 places offered in advance and a rolling release two days before. Those are dated rules, not a confirmed 2027 calendar or an availability promise.
Li Cossi belongs to Costa Paradiso in the municipality of Trinità d’Agultu e Vignola, farther along the northern coast. The regional tourism page describes a roughly 500-metre approach path from parking. Keep shoes suitable for uneven ground and allow for the return; it is a separate northern-coast outing beyond Alghero.

Gallura: choose one cove and settle in
Liscia Ruja and Spiaggia del Principe suit a day based around Costa Smeralda. Liscia Ruja has both natural sections and beach services, with a small dirt-road approach described by regional tourism. Confirm access and your rental agreement instead of assuming every road to a beach is paved.
Choose one main beach rather than driving between several parking areas at the busiest time of day. Booked loungers, restaurant tables and parking are different arrangements. Porto Cervo is the selected overnight in the saved island route; that does not imply walking access from every room to either cove.

Cala Luna and Cala Goloritzé need different plans
Cala Luna can be reached by boat from Gulf of Orosei departure ports, or by a demanding trail. Confirm the harbour on the actual ticket: Cala Gonone, Santa Maria Navarrese and Arbatax are not interchangeable meeting points. A one-way hike with a boat return works only when the operator confirms the pickup and the sea allows the service.
Cala Goloritzé is on the Baunei coast. The Fyno hike allowance is three to five hours, before adding a long beach rest or travel to the trailhead. Check controlled-entry reservations and the current hiking conditions through the place guide. A Gulf of Orosei cruise is not proof that you can land at this protected cove. Cala Mariolu’s technical land approach is also not a substitute for an easy beach walk.

Southwest: separate Teulada from the mining coast
Tuerredda is in Teulada between Capo Malfatano and Capo Spartivento, southwest of Cagliari. Use the municipality’s official visitor page and its linked reservation channel for access. An umbrella reservation, an access reservation and a parking payment may be separate purchases; check what your confirmation actually includes.
Cala Domestica lies by Buggerru on the southwestern mining coast. Its cove and boardwalk make a different outing from the Teulada coast. Piscinas belongs to the Costa Verde near Arbus, not the inland village also named Piscinas. The remoter setting is part of the appeal, but makes road condition, supplies and the return journey especially important.

05 · Plan the detail
Choose by the day’s wind and your return
No coast is always calm. Read the current marine forecast and local beach flags; a cove that looks sheltered in a photograph can still be unsuitable on your date. Do not interpret clear water as a swimming-safety assessment. Keep dunes and protected vegetation out of your walking route and take rubbish away.
For boat beaches, leave a land-based alternative in the plan and avoid placing the only sailing immediately before a flight. For hiking beaches, the uphill return, shade and drinking water matter as much as the descent. Confirm seasonal food and toilet services rather than relying on a summer description for a shoulder-season visit.

06 · Plan the detail
One coast works better for a short break
For a few nights, choose an arrival airport and one coastal base. Alghero is useful for the northwest, Olbia for the northeast, and Cagliari for the south; Cala Gonone is a separate east-coast base for Gulf of Orosei excursions. Crossing the island for a single photograph can use the time you meant to spend on the sand.
The saved ten-day Sardinian Adventure changes base five times across nine selected nights. Its beach and boat choices are a starting plan, not a checklist. Use the saved route as a starting point, then remove distant detours or leave a weather buffer when adapting your own trip.

Before you make the plan.
Which Sardinia beaches need reservations?
La Pelosa and Tuerredda have official seasonal access schemes, and Cala Goloritzé requires current controlled-access planning. Check each operator’s calendar for your travel year; 2026 dates do not establish 2027 rules.
Can I drive to Cala Luna?
There is no normal road arrival onto the beach. Compare a boat from the named departure harbour with a demanding hiking approach, and confirm any boat return before setting out.
Is Tuerredda near Villasimius?
No. Tuerredda is on the southwest coast in Teulada. Villasimius and Punta Molentis are on the southeast coast. Plan them as different outings from Cagliari.
