More about this place
Chiesetta di San Giovanni is the small Baroque church at Ranui in Val di Funes, set in a meadow beneath the Odle peaks and forming one of the Dolomites’ most recognizable cultural landscapes.
The church is best experienced as a quiet architectural and landscape stop, not simply a roadside photo. Follow the signed visitor access, respect the surrounding private farm and meadow, and use the designated viewpoint or paid access where posted rather than crossing fences for a different angle.
Allow about thirty minutes for the viewpoint, the exterior, and any permitted interior access. The building remains part of a lived rural and religious setting, so avoid drones and disruptive posing, check the official Ranuihof page for current access, and combine the stop with nearby Santa Maddalena rather than blocking the lane with an unscheduled roadside pause.
