More about this place
Lake Tovel is a clear alpine lake in the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, surrounded by forest and Brenta peaks and linked to the historic red-water phenomenon that ended in the mid-1960s.
The best first visit follows the roughly ninety-minute shoreline loop, which is mostly gentle but includes a short rocky stepped section with a fixed cable. The Red Lake Park House explains the lake’s ecology and the algae behind its former seasonal color; longer paths continue toward Val Flavona and the Glare scree for prepared hikers.
Allow about two hours for the circuit and pauses, and check the official tourism page for the access road, paid parking, shuttles, and seasonal closures. The road is normally closed in winter, conditions can change, and the protected setting should be enjoyed from marked paths without swimming, boating, or disturbing wildlife.
