More about this place
Castelsardo is a hilltop town with a striking medieval fortress overlooking the sea. It’s one of the most photogenic towns in Sardinia, with vibrant alleys and panoramic terraces.
You can walk through the ancient walls, visit the Doria Castle, and browse handmade baskets and crafts from local artisans.
Allow one to two hours for the old-town lanes and viewpoints, with extra time if you choose to enter the castle museum. The upper quarter is steep and stepped, so leave the car in signed parking below the historic center and continue on foot. Go in the cooler part of the day; this works as a town stop on a north-coast drive rather than a substitute for a full beach day.
