I’d put Capo Caccia on the list for a look inside the caves.
More about this place
Capo Caccia is a towering limestone promontory just west of Alghero, known for its striking cliffs and hidden sea caves. The highlight is Neptune’s Grotto, a stunning marine cave accessible by boat or via the Escala del Cabirol — a dramatic 654-step stairway carved into the cliffside.
Inside the grotto, you’ll find vast caverns, underground lakes, and bizarre stalactite formations lit by atmospheric lighting. The views from the top of Capo Caccia are equally impressive, overlooking the coastline and the sea below.
Neptune’s Grotto admission and the boat fare are separate. Land access via the Escala del Cabirol requires an advance access reservation; the official guidance asks visitors to reach the staircase forty minutes before the cave tour. Sea and wind conditions can close either approach. The cave permits leashed, muzzled animals, while any boat operator sets its own carriage rules.

Original curator notes · check current details.
To experience the grotto, go early in the day when boat tours are more likely to run and the stairs are less crowded.
If you’re comfortable with the walk, the Escala del Cabirol route is far more memorable than arriving by boat.
