More about this place

Spencer Beach Park Campground is a permit-based tent-camping option at ʻŌhaiʻula Beach near Kawaihae on the Kohala Coast. The sandy bay, tree-shaded lawns and picnic areas make it a relaxed coastal base, with Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site nearby.

Shared facilities include restrooms, drinking water and outdoor beach showers. Camp only in the designated areas; the pavilions are for day use and their electrical outlets cannot be used to power campsites. Plan to carry equipment from parking, as vehicles cannot drive in to unload at the camping area.

Book a county camping permit before arriving. The gate closes at 8pm and reopens at 7am, with no ordinary entry or exit overnight. Check the park’s recurring maintenance closures for your dates: camping is unavailable on closure days, and campers staying the preceding night must leave by 8am.
