Kapaʻa Beach Park Campground
I’d pick Kapaʻa Beach Park Campground for a camping stay.
More about this place
Kapaʻa Beach Park Campground is a small permit-based camping area on Hawaiʻi Island’s North Kohala coast, near Māhukona. The rocky shoreline, open ocean views and picnic areas make it a simple coastal overnight option away from the larger resort districts.
The park has restrooms, picnic tables and a designated camping area. Water serves only the restroom sinks and toilets: bring all water needed for drinking, cooking, bathing and cleaning. There are no verified RV hookups or shower facilities to rely on here.
Obtain the county camping permit before arriving and camp in the designated area. Pavilions have separate day-use permits and cannot be used for overnight camping. Expect an exposed, rocky coast rather than a sandy swimming beach, and check current park access and ocean conditions before setting out.
