Where to stay in Iceland

Choose your overnight stops around the route you want to travel. Reykjavík works for a city stay and selected day trips; a Ring Road journey needs changing bases. Compare Fyno’s regions, then open the individual hotel guides.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

Choose nights that fit the journey

  1. 01

    Nights first. Hotels second.

Choose where each day ends and where the next begins before shortlisting hotels. The saved ten-day Ring Road nights below show one way to move around the island, with stays linked to each day.

  2. 02

Check the room and the full stay total

Compare occupancy, bed configuration, bathrooms, breakfast and cancellation terms on the exact room. Use the full stay total for your dates, then check the property’s arrival arrangements.

  3. 03

Leave room for a weather change

For a seasonal journey, leave room to shorten a driving day. Contact the property about late arrival and any remote access requirements. Avoid building a final-day drive that leaves no margin before a flight.

Questions before you go

Can I stay in Reykjavík for the whole trip?

Yes for a Reykjavík-focused stay with selected southwest outings. Use changing overnights for a longer circuit; compare the actual itinerary rather than treating the entire island as day-trip distance.

Are these live hotel prices or available rooms?

No. The directory links to Fyno’s existing hotel guides. Confirm dates, occupancy, terms and the final total with the booking provider.

Where should I stay for a first Iceland road trip?

Choose overnight bases from the route: Reykjavík for a city stay and southwest outings, South Coast bases for that region, and changing stops for a full circuit. The saved Ring Road overnights on this map show one actual Fyno route, rather than a list of places you must book.

How do I use the hotel map?

Start with the saved Ring Road stays, switch to all 68 curated hotels or filter by region. Select a hotel name to highlight its pin; select a pin to bring its card into view. Open the hotel guide to compare its setting and booking options.

Should I book one base or move hotels?

One base works for a focused city or regional stay. Moving bases fits a longer circuit and avoids repeatedly returning to Reykjavík. Compare each next morning’s first stop with the previous night’s hotel before booking.

What should I compare before booking an Iceland hotel?

Check the exact location, dates, number of guests and rooms, full-stay total, taxes, breakfast and cancellation terms. A scenic hotel card does not establish room availability or that every facility is included.
