I’d put Hāna Town & Bay on the list for some time by the beach.
More about this place
Hāna Town & Bay is an unhurried pause beside a broad, dark-sand bay, with a green headland, canoe culture and the everyday rhythm of East Maui around you. Come for a shoreline stroll and a picnic or simple local lunch, rather than a checklist of shops or a guaranteed swimming session.
Use the public parking along Keawa Place by Hāna Beach Park, then explore the bayfront and nearby public streets on foot. Allow about an hour for the walk and a relaxed look around; a sit-down meal can require longer. Local food businesses keep their own opening hours, so carry a backup snack and do not rely on a particular stall being open.
The county park has restrooms, showers and a picnic pavilion, with accessible facilities; the beach itself is soft sand and uneven shore. Ocean conditions vary and regular lifeguard coverage is limited, so enjoy the bay from land when unsure. Respect canoe activity, posted closures and private property, and leave enough daylight for any onward drive.
