Hanalei Town & Bay is a relaxed north-shore day of taro fields, indie shops, food trucks, a long crescent beach, and a pier beneath waterfall-streaked mountains.

Browse town first, then choose the bay section that matches conditions and family needs. Winter surf can be powerful, while summer often brings gentler swimming and paddling.

Allow two to six hours for town and bay time, depending on how long you want to stay at the beach or stop for food. The drive and one-lane-bridge delays are additional.

Kauaʻi

Flight between Kauaʻi and Oʻahu links Honolulu (HNL) with Līhuʻe (LIH) in either direction. The flight itself is usually under an hour, but allow the normal domestic check-in, security and baggage time at both ends. There is no ordinary road or passenger-car ferry alternative between these islands.

Līhuʻe is the island gateway; a north-shore or Poʻipū hotel still needs a separate road journey. Include checked bags and any sports equipment when comparing fares. The airport-to-hotel bus, taxi or rental-car collection is separate from this flight. Allow separately for the drive to your accommodation after collecting bags.

In the reverse direction, fly back to Honolulu and arrange onward transport on Oʻahu separately. Return any island rental car before departure; vehicles do not travel with you.
