More about this place
Quiraing Hill Circuit is a full hill walk through the rock formations and upper escarpment that make northern Skye so distinctive. The complete route goes well beyond the busy first viewpoint and demands more confidence than its famous photographs suggest.
Start at the designated parking on the Staffin–Uig pass and follow the established circuit, passing below the main formations before returning over the hill. Allow four to five hours for the roughly seven-kilometre route, with pauses and careful progress through rough sections. Choose this instead of the short viewpoint walk, not in addition to it.
The route includes steep ground, rough footing and a minor scramble, with exposed upper terrain in bad weather. Carry navigation, waterproof layers and food, and turn back when conditions exceed your experience. This is a summer-condition walking description; snow and ice require winter skills and equipment.
