Old Man of Storr Hike

Old Man of Storr Hike is a sustained climb into Skye's towering rock scenery, where the famous pinnacle becomes more imposing as the path rises. The landscape rewards a proper walk and time to look around, rather than a hurried photograph from the road.

Begin at the official Storr visitor parking and follow the maintained signed walking route towards the main rock viewpoints, returning the same way. Allow about three hours including pauses. Do not extend the outing onto an exposed ridge or scrambling line simply because it appears close on the map.

Check weather and trail notices before setting out, carry a waterproof layer and wear hiking footwear. Wind, low cloud and ice can change the difficulty quickly. Parking cannot currently be reserved, and motorhomes use designated roadside provision rather than the height-restricted main lot; no overnight stays are permitted here.
