Start with the permanent modern-art and design galleries while attention is fresh, break in the central area, then choose one temporary show; the building rewards a thematic route more than a complete chronological sweep. Reserve major exhibitions, use lockers, and ask staff for lift routes if needed. Pair with the Museumplein outdoor walk, not another full art museum, unless this is a dedicated art day.
