I’d keep EYE Filmmuseum in mind for a stop in Amsterdam.
More about this place
EYE Filmmuseum is the national film museum inside Amsterdam Noord’s sculptural white waterfront landmark. Exhibitions, archive-driven cinema, interactive installations, and the IJ-facing café make the building part of the experience
Pair an exhibition or screening with time on the terrace; the free ferry ride from Centraal is the natural arrival.
Allow one to three hours after taking the free Buiksloterweg ferry from Centraal. Begin with the temporary exhibition or permanent interactive spaces, then add a scheduled screening only if its running time fits the day; cinema tickets and exhibition admission are separate. Leave time for the IJ-facing café and the building’s terraces, store bulky bags as directed, and check film language or subtitles before purchasing. The sloping architecture is accessible by lifts, but allow extra movement time between levels.
The exhibition is normally closed on Mondays outside official school holidays and between exhibitions. On those dates, choose an available screening by its full running time or use the nearby A’DAM panorama and waterfront instead.
