I’d put Johnston Canyon Falls Walk on the list for waterfall views.
More about this place
Johnston Canyon Falls Walk is a journey along a narrow limestone canyon, where suspended walkways bring you close to rushing water and two powerful waterfalls. The enclosed gorge is a striking contrast to Banff’s open lake and mountain viewpoints.
Follow the maintained route from the Johnston Canyon trailhead to Lower Falls and, when conditions allow, Upper Falls, then return the same way. Parks Canada lists 2.4 kilometres each way to Upper Falls and about two hours for the direct return; allow three with viewing queues and pauses. Continuing to the Ink Pots is a separate, longer hike.
The normal canyon trail, day-use area and main parking are closed for repairs through December 11, 2026. This description covers the usual route after reopening; do not use it as a current diversion route. Stay on the designated paths, wear shoes suited to wet or icy surfaces and follow current Parks Canada notices. National-park entry and transport are additional.
