Smoo Cave Waterfall Chamber

Smoo Cave Waterfall Chamber is a short descent into a vast coastal cave where a stream drops into the interior. The open entrance and the maintained walkway provide a distinct experience without needing to join the deeper guided cave tour.

Use the designated Smoo Cave access beside the road near Durness, descend the public approach and follow the open walkway towards the waterfall chamber before returning. Allow about an hour, including steps, viewpoints and a pause. The paid boat-and-cave tour goes farther and is a separate choice.

Check access and water conditions before entering: rain and wind can raise the stream rapidly, even when the immediate weather seems reasonable. Wear shoes with grip and respect any closure. A free public approach does not make the whole cave safe or accessible in every condition, and the deeper tour has separate age, pet and payment rules.
