I’d include Balnakeil Beach for a beach stop.
More about this place
Balnakeil Beach is a far-north stretch of pale sand and open water where the Highlands briefly take on an almost improbable colour. The pleasure is space, sea air and a slow shoreline walk rather than a programme of organised attractions.
Use the designated public beach approach near Balnakeil and allow about two hours to walk a comfortable section of sand and return. Keep the outing within the beach itself; continuing through dunes towards Faraid Head is a different route with its own access and navigation considerations.
Dress for wind and changing weather even when the water looks inviting. Swimming has its own cold-water, surf and current risks and is not assumed within this visit. Respect dune habitat, livestock and local parking notices, and choose your turnaround so the return remains comfortable as the tide and weather change.
