Hengifoss Waterfall is one of Iceland's tallest at meters 420 feet and features a stunning multi-tiered cascade, framed by dramatic basalt columns and vibrant red clay layers that reveal the geological history of the area.
To reach Hengifoss, embark on a moderately challenging hike that is about 1.5 miles each way from the parking area. The trail winds through a beautiful landscape, passing by another waterfall, Litlanesfoss, which features unique basalt formations.
Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, culminating in the breathtaking sight of Hengifoss itself.
