Icelanders are among the most proficient English speakers in the world. Nearly everyone speaks fluent English, and it's taught in schools from a young age. This applies not only in Reykjavik but also in smaller towns and rural areas. In major tourist destinations such as Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon, and along the Ring Road, you'll find that menus, signs, and brochures are often in both Icelandic and English. Tour guides and service staff almost always speak English fluently. English signage is everywhere in tourist areas and along main roads, making navigation simple. Public transportation and car rental services cater to English-speaking tourists. English will serve you well across Iceland, but learning a few Icelandic greetings like "Góðan daginn" (Good day) or "Takk" (Thank you) is a nice gesture, though not necessary.
