A two- or three-day Moab itinerary

Give Arches and Canyonlands Island in the Sky separate days. A third day creates space for Dead Horse Point or a gentler outing; it does not make the Needles district a quick extra stop.

Make the trip fit you

Make the journey work

Day 1: Arches, with one main walk

Choose Delicate Arch or a longer Devils Garden outing, then fit shorter stops around the heat and parking. NPS says timed entry is not required in 2026; entrance fees, congestion and separate Fiery Furnace reservations still apply. [5]

Day 2: Island in the Sky

Connect Mesa Arch and Grand View Point as one park day. Dead Horse Point is a separate state park and fee; add it only with time for the approach and return.

Day 3: choose a slower pace

Use a third night for a river-road setting or an unfinished park day. Newspaper Rock is on the Needles approach, not on the Island in the Sky road; save it for the southbound journey if that fits.

Dead Horse Point is a Utah state park, separate from Canyonlands. Check its own entrance arrangements before adding it to an Island in the Sky day.

  3. 03 · Moab, Arches & Canyonlands

Make Delicate Arch the main warm-weather walk rather than the final item after an exhausting Devils Garden circuit. Exposed terrain and the return matter.

  4. 04 · Moab, Arches & Canyonlands

Choose the portion of Devils Garden that suits your group. Reaching a first arch and completing the longer route are very different walking commitments.

  5. 05 · Moab, Arches & Canyonlands

Double Arch can be a shorter Arches outing when a bigger walk does not fit. Keep the entrance journey and heat separate from the trail allowance.

Mesa Arch is in Canyonlands Island in the Sky, not Arches National Park. Choose the visit for the wider district day rather than the name alone.

Newspaper Rock is on the Needles approach south of Moab. It fits a southbound journey differently from Mesa Arch and Grand View Point.

Sand Dune Arch is a shorter choice on the Arches park road. Match any extra stops to daylight, parking and the main walk you have already chosen.

Questions before you go

Can I see Arches and Canyonlands in one day?

A short look at both can leave little room for walking or entrance delays. Give Arches and Island in the Sky separate days; use a third day for another outing or a slower pace.

Are access and bookings guaranteed?
