While the weather in March is pretty unpredictable, April and May are great for visiting Tuscany. The weather is gorgeous, the hills are green, and the crowds have not yet arrived.

Spring

Summers get hot and crowdy in Tuscany, especially towards July and August. But if that doesn't scare you – Tuscan summers are beautiful with their constant clear skies and fresh produce. Try spending more time in the countryside, away from city crowds.

Summer

Tuscany is at its best in the fall. The grapes are harvested, the hills get their iconic shades of gold, the weather is not too hot anymore, and of course there are lesser crowds. Aim for mid-September to mid-October to get it perfect.

Fall

It is still possible to explore Tuscany in winter, but it gets quite cold and unpleasant. Also, most hotels in the countryside tend to shut down until March.

Monterosso Beach (Fegina) is one of the most popular and largest beaches in Cinque Terre, easily accessible from the town center. The beach is around 1.5 kilometers long and is divided into both public and private sections, where you can rent umbrellas, deck chairs, and sunbeds.

The beach offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and cliffs, and is known for its crystal clear waters, soft sand, and a wide range of water activities such as kayaking, paddle boating, and snorkeling.

You can also enjoy a stroll along the promenade, where there are several cafes, bars, and restaurants offering local cuisine and refreshing drinks.

Monterosso Beach is a must-visit spot if you are looking to soak up some sun and enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean scenery.

A picturesque stretch of coastline known for its colorful villages perched on rugged cliffs. Hiking between the villages offers breathtaking views and a taste of local life.

Cinque Terre

Taking a local train is the most convenient way to enter Cinque Terre region and reach each of the five villages. You can also hike along the scenic trails that connect the five villages.
It takes 9 minutes to reach Riomaggiore from La Spezia, then only a few minutes to get from one village to another by train, or 1-2 hours on foot, following the iconic scenic walk.


🚉 Time Table

A ferry from La Spezia is another scenic way to to reach and navigate Cinque Terre region. It is less convenient and more expensive, but much more scenic. You can buy a day pass and hop on and off between all villages except Cornigla which does not have water access.

Hiking is another scenic way of getting into Cinque Terre, but it will take some additional time. Park your car in La Specia, and follow a scenic path through the hills to Riomaggiore (3h) or even further to Manarola (5h). Check the AllTrails link for more details.
