I’d put Beinn Eighe Woodland Trail on the list for a walk.

    More about this place

Beinn Eighe Woodland Trail is a short walk through old pinewood above Loch Maree, where trees, birds and glimpses of the surrounding mountains provide the interest. It offers a lower-level way into this landscape without turning a scenic day into a demanding mountain ascent.

Begin at Coille na Glas-Leitir car park and follow the signed Woodland Trail back to the start. Allow about one hour for the roughly one-and-a-half-kilometre route and careful observation. The longer Mountain Trail leaves the woodland and has a different effort and weather commitment; it is excluded here.

Wear sturdy footwear, since the woodland path is narrow and includes steps. Check current reserve notices and bring a rain layer even for this short outing. Stay on the maintained route and keep wildlife viewing quiet and patient rather than moving off-trail in search of a sighting.
