More about this place
Neist Point Lighthouse Walk is a coastal outing to Skye's western headland, where cliffs, sea and the lighthouse provide the drama. The descent makes the outward journey feel easy; the climb back is part of the experience and needs its own energy.
Begin at the designated road-end access, follow the concrete path and steps towards the lighthouse headland, and return the same way. Allow around two hours for the roughly three-kilometre outing and pauses. Respect the private fenced lighthouse buildings rather than assuming the tower is open to visitors.
Avoid the walk in strong winds or poor visibility, and keep well back from unfenced cliffs. Wear shoes with grip and leave enough daylight for the return climb. The narrow access road and limited parking need patience; a roadside viewpoint is not permission to block passing places or venture onto unstable edges.
