More about this place
Knockan Crag Geology Trail is a short landscape walk that makes the Northwest Highlands' astonishing rock history easier to see. Interpretation and open views work together, turning an unfamiliar geological story into something tangible beneath your feet.
Start at the reserve's visitor access and choose the signed Crag Top route only if its steepness suits your group. Allow about about one hour for the interpretation, climb, viewpoints and return. Lower interpretive areas offer a shorter alternative; they should replace the climb when needed rather than be treated as the same route.
Check the current reserve map and notices, wear sturdy footwear and carry a rain layer. The upper trail is exposed and can be slippery, so choose conditions that make the descent comfortable. Respect the rock formations and sculptures, keep to maintained paths and avoid collecting or disturbing geological material.
