V&A South Kensington

V&A South Kensington is a museum of art, design and performance where everyday objects become extraordinary. Fashion, decorative arts and ambitious making give the collections a different feel from London's painting galleries, with enough variety to follow a personal obsession for hours.

Choose two or three collection areas and allow a relaxed two to three hours rather than trying to see the entire building. Use the current museum map to connect them, taking time to look closely at materials, craftsmanship and the way an object was intended to be used.

The permanent collection is free, while selected exhibitions and events require paid tickets. Arrive at the South Kensington site on Cromwell Road; other V&A locations are separate visits. Check gallery availability and exhibition reservations before setting your heart on one particular display.
