I’d put Lighthouse Park Point Atkinson Walk on the list for a walk.
More about this place
Lighthouse Park Point Atkinson Walk is a coastal forest outing where tall trees open onto granite shore and views towards a white lighthouse. The combination of sheltered woodland and exposed saltwater viewpoints feels distinctly West Coast.
From the Beacon Lane parking area, follow the main approach towards the Point Atkinson viewing area and return through the signed park paths. Allow about two hours for an unhurried outing. Enjoy the lighthouse from public viewpoints; the light station grounds are not an unrestricted visitor attraction.
Use the current district trail map and choose paths suited to your group. Roots, slopes and wet rock require care, and exposed shoreline can be slippery. Parking charges apply year-round even though the park walk has no attraction ticket; check the posted arrangements before leaving your car.
