I’d keep Peyto Lake Lookout in mind for a stop in Lake Louise.
More about this place
Peyto Lake Lookout is a short mountain approach to a striking view of glacier-fed water below Bow Summit. The lake's shape and colour make the view distinctive, while the elevation brings a real change in weather from the valley road.
Use the designated Bow Summit visitor parking and follow the signed path to the main Peyto Lake viewpoint, returning the same way. Allow about an hour for the approach, viewpoint and return. Continuing beyond the main lookout is a different hike and should not be assumed within this short stop.
Check the park's current access and trail notices, especially outside the settled summer season. Snow and ice can linger, so bring appropriate footwear and a warm layer. Remain on the maintained viewpoint and keep a protected stopping margin when fitting this visit into a longer Icefields Parkway journey.
