Valley of the Five Lakes Hike

Valley of the Five Lakes Hike is a lake-and-forest outing that also reveals Jasper's ongoing recovery after wildfire. The reopened trail's repaired surfaces and realigned sections bring a fresh perspective on a landscape that is still changing.

Begin at the designated Valley of the Five Lakes trailhead and choose the currently signed lake circuit that matches your group's ability. Allow three to four hours including pauses and return to the same access point. Use the current park map rather than an old saved track, because sections of the route have changed.

Check the live trail report before setting out and respect all remaining off-trail closures. Carry water, a weather layer and the park's recommended wildlife precautions. The route reopened in 2026 after restoration, but reopening does not make every adjoining path or burned area safe to explore.
