I’d put Stewart Canyon Walk on the list for mountain lake views.
More about this place
Stewart Canyon Walk is a gentle introduction to Lake Minnewanka’s wooded shoreline and the narrow canyon where the Cascade River enters the lake. Clear water, stone walls and mountain glimpses make the walk rewarding without committing to a long backcountry route.
From the Lake Minnewanka day-use area, follow the signed lakeside trail to Stewart Canyon and return the same way. Allow about two hours with shoreline pauses; Parks Canada lists roughly one hour for the direct return walk. Do not continue onto the longer Minnewanka backcountry trail as part of this outing.
Check the current trail report and wildlife restrictions before setting out. Carry water, layers and the park’s recommended wildlife precautions, and stay back from the canyon edge. National-park entry and transport are separate from the free trail; summer parking can be busy.
