Bow River Guided Canoe

Bow River Guided Canoe is a shared paddle on Banff’s turquoise river in a large voyageur-style canoe, with forest and mountain slopes replacing the bustle of the town. A guide gives the river’s landscape and canoeing history more context than a quiet photograph alone can convey.

Banff Adventures’ River Explorer trip lasts about ninety minutes; allow two hours with check-in and instruction at the Banff Canoe Club. Everyone paddles together, and no previous canoeing experience is required. The actual river route depends on conditions, and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

The published season is May to September. Children aged two and up can join, with the operator supplying paddles and lifejackets. Reserve a departure, dress for changing weather and follow the guide’s directions around cold, moving water.
