Getting around Bali

Arrange regional transport around your actual stays and stops. Bali traffic, mountain roads and Penida boats make distance alone a poor guide to the shape of a day.

Make the trip fit you

Make the journey work

Use a driver for regional moves

A prearranged driver makes it easier to connect inland stops and reach stays away from town. Agree on pickup, stops and the final drop-off; obtain a current estimate for the actual day.

Scooter experience is not a detail

Riding requires the appropriate licence, experience, helmet and insurance cover. Check official advice and the rental terms rather than treating a scooter as the default for every traveler. [4][6]

A boat day has several journeys

Add the hotel-to-port drive, check-in, crossing, island road travel and the same process in reverse. Confirm exact ports and the return with the operator; do not attach a tight onward flight to the boat return. [3][2]

Protect the arrival and departure

Keep your arrival day light. On the last night choose a location and transport plan suited to the flight, instead of assuming every inland or island stay is close to DPS.
