Volterra is a charming hilltop town in Tuscany, known for its rich history and well-preserved medieval architecture. Located about 50 km southwest of Florence, Volterra was once an important center of the Etruscan civilization and later became a Roman colony. The town is surrounded by impressive walls and offers stunning panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside.

Volterra's main attractions include the impressive Piazza dei Priori, which is considered one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Italy. The square is surrounded by important buildings, including the Palazzo dei Priori, which dates back to the 13th century and now houses the town hall and a museum. Other must-see sights in Volterra include the impressive Etruscan Arch, the Roman Theater, and the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum, which contains a large collection of Etruscan artifacts.

Volterra is also famous for its alabaster production, and visitors can see artisans at work in many of the town's workshops. The town's narrow streets are lined with charming shops selling handmade alabaster products, as well as other artisanal goods such as pottery and ceramics. With its beautiful architecture, fascinating history, and artistic traditions, Volterra is definitely worth a visit if you're into history or architecture.
