The mountain regions of Cusco and Machu Picchu are best experienced in the Dry season, with May and October being perfect due to warm days and fewer crowds. The coastal regions will be covered in gray mist, yet still crowded June to August.

It is also okay to visit mountain regions in November, March, and April – the nights are much warmer and the rain is usually just hour-long and falls in the afternoons. But avoid mountains from December to February since it often rains heavily.
