Namibia’s coast: lagoon, dunes and shipwreck stops

Choose a central-coast base, a north-coast detour or a separately arranged remote Skeleton Coast journey. This is a landscape and wildlife coast, not a promise of swimming beaches.

Make the trip fit you

Make the journey fit

Central coast first

Swakopmund town time, Walvis Bay lagoon and a guided Sandwich Harbour excursion can share a coastal stay when their departures and driving fit.

North-coast detours need time

Zeila and Cape Cross lie north of Swakopmund. Add their actual road journey rather than treating every coastal pin as a nearby beach.

Remote is a different route

The northern Skeleton Coast and Shipwreck Lodge need confirmed access and lodge arrangements. Cool wind and fog contrast with the inland desert. [14][2]

  4. 04 · South of Henties Bay, north of Swakopmund

Use the Zeila as a brief coastal-road stop if your route already passes it. It is far north of Walvis Bay’s lagoon.

  5. 05 · Cape Cross, north of Henties Bay

This seal-colony visit is a north-coast outing, separate from Walvis Bay’s lagoon. It can lengthen a Damaraland-to-Swakopmund transfer.

  6. 06 · Skeleton Coast · broad coastal area

Choose the specific part of the coast you want to see. A regional map pin does not describe one short attraction or give access to the remote northern park.

Questions before you go

Is this a swimming-beach guide?

It compares coastal landscapes, town stops and wildlife. It makes no bathing, lifeguard or safe-swimming claim.

Can I drive to every coast pin?

No. Some are broad regional references or boat and guided-tour destinations. Check the individual access and operator instructions. [1]
