Getting around Lofoten: ferries, buses and the wider north

Arrange the crossings before the excursions. Bodø–Moskenes, Reinefjorden, Skrova and the summer Andenes–Gryllefjord link serve different journeys; public transport requires a date-specific connection plan.

Make the trip fit you

What changes your plan

Bodø and Moskenes are separated by sea

Use the current operator booking and timetable for the exact crossing. Check terminal, foot passenger versus vehicle arrangements, check-in and a missed-connection backup. [3]

Reinefjorden is not a road transfer

Bunes and Horseid use different landings. Choose the walk after checking the outward service and last return; do not reuse times from older descriptions. [2]

The northern shortcut is seasonal

The Andenes–Gryllefjord connection links Andøya and Senja in summer. When it does not operate, a checked road alternative needs substantially more time. [5][6]

Build a bus trip from the actual stops

Use Reis Nordland or the relevant regional planner for your date, then check luggage, the last return and the distance between the stop and your stay. A map pin is not a pickup confirmation. [2]

Questions before you go

Is the Andenes–Gryllefjord ferry a year-round connection?

Norwegian Scenic Routes describes it as a summer connection. Check current operating dates and the full road alternative when planning Andøya and Senja nights. [5]

Can I reuse old ferry times from a trip description?

Use the current operator timetable for the exact date, terminal, passenger or vehicle booking and last return. [2][3]
