The beach can be accessed by a steep staircase and is best visited during low tide. While the climb back can be a bit challenging, the breathtaking views and pristine beach make it well worth the effort.

Diamond Beach

Bali Handara Gate is a popular tourist attraction in Bratan region. The gate is part of the Handara Golf & Resort Bali complex and is situated in front of a lush green mountain range, providing a picturesque backdrop for photos.

The gate itself is a traditional Balinese split gate, painted in vibrant Balinese colors and surrounded by well-manicured gardens. You can walk through the gate and take photos on the path leading up to it, with the mountain range visible in the background.

The gate is a very popular spot, with occasional lines to take a photo in front of the gate. So we recommend to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds and capture the best lighting for photos.

Jatiluwih Rice Terraces are considered to be the most beautiful in Bali and cover an area of over 600 hectares. The stunning landscape of Jatiluwih is a result of traditional Balinese irrigation system known as "Subak", which was designed in the 9th century and still in use today.

You can hike or cycle through the terraces to enjoy the breathtaking views of the lush green paddies and the surrounding mountains. The terraces are also surrounded by dense tropical forests that are home to a variety of wildlife such as monkeys, birds, and butterflies. Sekumpul Waterfall

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is an iconic Hindu temple complex located on the shores of Lake Bratan. The temple's scenic location and the beauty of the lake make it a popular spot for photography.

While the bay could be one of the most beautiful on Bali, we we should warn you if you are looking for a perfectly relaxing vibe. Local businessmen sometimes fight for every new person arriving at the beach and try to sell a spot on their loungers pretty aggressively, making the relaxation vibe to go away pretty quickly.

Kelingking is an iconic beach that is famous for its stunning views of the Indian Ocean and its unique rock formation that resembles a T-Rex dinosaur.

You can enjoy epic views right from the viewing point near the parking lot, but we recommend hiking down to the beach itself. The cliffside is steep but well-maintained and offers unique views every step of the way. It usually takes an hour to go down and back up. Once at the beach, you can enjoy crystal clear waters, white sand beaches, and the towering T-Rex around you.

While the beach was considered an off-the-beaten-path experience in Bali not far ago, it now gets crowded closer to mid-day, so we recommend visiting first thing in the morning after you arrive on the island.

Thousand Islands Viewpoint is a stunning scenic viewpoint and a very popular photo spot. It offers panoramic views of the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean, as well as the small islands dotting the horizon. The viewpoint is perched on a cliff and can be accessed by a short trek uphill.

The viewpoint is a popular spot for photography because of the famous Rumah Pohon treehouses (you can stay here; check out curated stays section). You can also enjoy a picnic on the grassy area near the viewpoint while taking in the stunning scenery.

Campuhan Ridge Walk is a beautiful walking trail in the heart of Ubud. We recommend this walk during the early morning or late afternoon when the temperature is cooler and the views are at their most beautiful. The trek takes about an hour each way and there are several rest stops along the way where you can take a break and admire the stunning views. The trail is well-maintained and there are signs along the way to guide you. There are also several cafes and restaurants located along the trail.

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is not just a hiking trail, but also a cultural experience. Along the way, you can see the daily life of the locals, visit small temples and shrines, and take in the traditional Balinese architecture. The trail is also a great spot for photography, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, rice terraces, and the Campuhan River. Overall, the Campuhan Ridge Walk is a must-do activity for anyone visiting Ubud and looking for an easy and enjoyable trekking experience.

Candi Tebing Gunung Kawi, also known as the Mountain Kawi Cliff Temple, is an ancient temple complex located just outside of Ubud. It is believed to have been built in the 11th century during the reign of King Anak Wungsu, and consists of ten rock-cut candi or shrines carved into the cliff face.

First you descend a series of steep steps, passing through lush rice paddies and a small river. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the stunning sight of the towering rock-cut shrines, each measuring around 7 meters in height. It is also a site of cultural and spiritual significance, with local Balinese Hindus making regular offerings and prayers at the temple.

The temple is not as popular as other sights in Bali, so if you visit in late afternoon – there's a good chance to have the place to yourself to admire the intricate carvings and stunning views of the surrounding rice paddies and the river.

Pura Tirta Empul is a Hindu water temple located in the village of Manukaya outside of Ubud. The temple is dedicated to Vishnu, one of the major Hindu gods, and is famous for its holy spring water, which is believed to have healing properties. The temple's central courtyard contains a large pool fed by 12 fountains, each with its own spout. Visitors are invited to enter the pool and bathe under the fountains as a form of purification.

According to local legend, the holy spring water at Pura Tirta Empul was created by the god Indra, who struck the ground with his thunderbolt. The temple has been in use since the 10th century, and the current structures date back to the 19th century. The temple is a popular destination for both tourists and locals, and it is often crowded with people who come to purify themselves and seek blessings.

Be advised that you are required to wear a sarong and sash as a sign of respect. Sarongs and sashes are available for rent at the entrance to the temple. It is also important to be respectful of the local customs and rituals, such as not entering the water without first making an offering to the gods.

Pura Tirta Empul

The hike offers stunning views of the sunrise from the top of Mount Batur and should be on the bucket list of every traveler to Bali. The hike is considered moderate, takes approximately two hours each way, and takes place in the early morning hours. You can do it any time of the day, but the sunrise from the volcanic crater over the lake is just magical, so we don't recommend any other way.

The trek starts at the base of the mountain and winds through the jungle before reaching the steeper parts of the ascent. Along the way, you can spot unique flora and fauna, including monkeys, birds, and tropical plants. Once you reach the summit, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the sunrise over the surrounding mountains and Lake Batur.

You can do this hike yourself, arriving and parking the car at the mount base. But we recommend getting a local guide for a hassle-free experience. You are usually picked up at 2:00-ish am from your hotel in Ubud and start the ascend an hour later. The guides are also knowledgeable about the area and can provide information about the flora, fauna, and local culture.

Tukad Cepung is more of a hidden gem in Bali. What makes this waterfall unique is that it is situated inside a cave, and the sun rays penetrating through the gap above the waterfall create a mesmerizing light effect.

To reach the waterfall, you need to go on a short hike through a narrow, rocky path, but the scenic views of the river and the lush greenery along the way are worth it. Once you arrive, you will see the waterfall cascading down from the top of the cave, surrounded by natural rock formations and crystal-clear water pools. The cave itself is quite spacious and can accommodate a decent number of visitors, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

We recommend visiting the Tukad Cepung Waterfall early in the morning to avoid the crowds and to get the best lighting for photos. You should also wear appropriate footwear as the path can be slippery, especially after rain.

Nusa Penida is a remote exotic island accessible by a ferry or a private boat with your guided tour. There is no wrong option though: if you like stress-free logistics – we recommend a guided tour, and if you like to explore at your own pace – here is what you need to know:

Take a taxi to Sanur Harbor. If you arrive on your scooter or car – there is a parking lot where you can drop it off. Once at the harbor, there are a few vendors, but we recommend buying tickets for Mola-Mola Express which is one of the fastest and safest options and will take you to the island in about 30 minutes. It costs around $10 one way.

Keep in mind that Nusa Penida became quite popular in recent years, so we recommend taking one of the earliest ferries at 8:30 am, and to ensure you have a ticket for that day – it's better to be at the ticket office at 7:30-ish.

Also keep in mind that Nusa Penida is a big island and almost impossible to explore on foot, so you'll need to rent a scooter or a driver to explore the island.

And last but not least – the last ferries back depart at 4:30 pm, so make sure you make it back in time. If you decide on staying overnight at the island – reach out to your hotel and they will help with the logistics around the island.
