Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple is a Balinese sea temple at the southwestern tip of the Bukit Peninsula. The temple is dedicated to the spirits of the sea and is considered one of the six main temples believed to be Bali's spiritual pillars. The temple sits atop a cliff 70 meters above sea level, offering stunning views of the Indian Ocean and some of Bali's best sunsets.

In addition to its spiritual significance, Uluwatu Temple is stunningly beautiful, especially with the ocean views as its backdrop. You can watch the sunset over the ocean from one of the cliffside restaurants or just stroll along the cliffside.

We also recommend catching a traditional Balinese Kecak dance performance in the temple's amphitheater. It is held every day at 6:00 pm and is pretty invigorating. You can purchase the tickets on arrival, but we recommend doing it in advance in peak season.

Uluwatu Temple is also known for its resident monkeys, who are considered sacred and believed to guard the temple from evil spirits. Please be cautious around the monkeys and don't wear loose items such as sunglasses or jewelry that can be easily grabbed.
