β€œBali is my go-to place for a spiritual break and reconnecting with myself. Fascinating jungles, rice field terraces, mystical temples, and stunning beaches make Bali a truly magical place, transporting you far away from your day-to-day life.”

Getting around

Scooter rental is best for short trips from your hotel. Hiring a driver is better (and quite affordable) for moving at longer distances, especially between regions.

Language

The official language is Bahasa Indonesia, but in Bali, locals often speak Balinese as well. However, English is the most common foreign language spoken, especially in tourist areas. In more rural parts of Bali or smaller villages off the tourist track, English is less commonly spoken. Locals may only speak Bahasa Indonesia or Balinese, so knowing a few basic phrases in Indonesian can be helpful for deeper engagement, though gestures and smiles will also get you far. Major roads and airports have English signage, and transportation services catering to tourists (taxis, buses, and airport transfers) are well-prepared for English speakers. While you can comfortably get by with English in Bali’s tourist areas, learning some basic Balinese greetings or phrases can enhance your interactions, especially when visiting local markets or more remote areas.

Safety

Bali is considered a safe destination for travelers. It is one of the safest places in Indonesia.
