There is a few operators in Alaska, but as we always do at Fyno, we researched all the options and then personally flew with Alaska Bear Adventures – top-rated, local family-owned operator. They offer a few options from half-day to full-day adventures. We personally recommend a full day (7 am to ~3 pm) to completely immerse yourself into this stunning activity.

The tour begins with a scenic flight from Homer over the stunning Alaskan landscape, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, pristine rivers, and dense forests. Upon arrival at the designated bear viewing area, knowledgeable guides lead you on a carefully planned excursion to observe bears in their natural environment.

With a focus on wildlife conservation and education, Alaska Bear Adventures ensures minimal impact on the bears and their surroundings. You have the opportunity to witness bears engaging in their daily activities, such as fishing for salmon, playing in the rivers, or caring for their cubs. The guides provide fascinating insights into bear behavior, habitat, and the importance of preserving their fragile ecosystem.

Safety is a top priority during the tour, and visitors are given clear instructions on how to maintain a safe distance from the bears. This allows for a thrilling and immersive experience while respecting the bears' space and ensuring the well-being of both visitors and wildlife.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave you with a deep appreciation for the incredible wildlife that calls Alaska home. We at Fyno were mind-blown by a full-day experience provided by Alaska Bear Adventures, and now recommend it to all Fyno users. Check the links section for more details.

Bore Tide Viewing is a unique and exhilarating experience that can be enjoyed along the Turnagain Arm just outside of Anchorage. The Turnagain Arm is known for having some of the largest tidal fluctuations in the world, creating powerful tidal surges known as bore tides. These tidal waves can reach heights of up to 6 feet and travel at speeds of up to 15 miles per hour, creating a thrilling spectacle for onlookers.

To witness the awe-inspiring bore tide phenomenon, you can head to various viewpoints along the Seward Highway, which runs parallel to the Turnagain Arm. Popular spots include Beluga Point, Bird Point, and Girdwood. It is recommended to check the tide charts in advance (see the links section) to ensure optimal viewing times, as the bore tides occur at different times each day.

As the bore tide approaches, the calm waters of the Turnagain Arm suddenly transform into a rushing wall of water. It is a mesmerizing sight to see the powerful force of nature as the tide surges past, often accompanied by the sounds of crashing waves and swirling currents. Wildlife enthusiasts may also have the opportunity to spot beluga whales, seals, and other marine creatures that are attracted to the abundant food sources brought in by the bore tide.
