The Triple Lakes Trail is a moderate to challenging hiking trail that takes you on a scenic journey through the wilderness, showcasing three beautiful lakes along the way.
It is a 9-mile long point to point trail, starting at the Savage River Campground and ending just outside of Denali Park Village, so it will require a bit of logistics to get back to your car. The hike takes between 4 to 5 hours to complete, so we recommend parking at the end of the trail in Denali Park village, taking a shuttle bus to the start of the trail, and hiking back to your car. This way you won't have to worry about the logistics at the end of the day.
The trail meanders through diverse terrain, including lush forests, open meadows, and rocky slopes. As you hike, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the vast Alaskan wilderness.
It features three main lakes: Upper, Middle, and Lower Triple Lakes. Each lake offers its own unique charm and picturesque scenery. The crystal-clear waters reflect the surrounding landscape, creating a tranquil atmosphere that invites you to relax and soak in the beauty of nature.
While hiking the Triple Lakes Trail, you may encounter a variety of wildlife, such as moose, caribou, and various bird species. Keep your camera handy to capture these incredible sightings and the stunning natural landscapes along the way.
The trail is well-maintained but can be challenging in certain sections, with some steep climbs and uneven terrain. It's important to be prepared with proper hiking gear, including sturdy boots, water, snacks, and bear spray.
The Triple Lakes Trail provides a memorable hiking experience in the heart of Denali National Park, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. Whether you're seeking solitude, wildlife encounters, or simply a refreshing outdoor adventure, this trail offers it all.
